Scaling the heights of Australian government administration, he most recently was Secretary of the Department of the Prime Minister and Cabinet—the nation's most senior public servant (2003-2008).
After being made a Member in the Order of Australia (AM) for public service on Australia Day 1996, Professor Shergold was elevated to Australia's highest award — the Companion in the Order of Australia (AC).
Dr Shergold has recently been appointed Professor in the Australian School of Business at the University of NSW in addition to his role at the Centre for Social Impact.
As head of CSI Peter’s aim is to bring together Australia’s not-for-profit, philanthropic, business and government sectors in a collaborative effort to help build passionate, high performing and sustainable social ventures.
